Shooter Fires Multiple Gunshots at Police Officers from Apartment Complex in Kendallville, Indiana

A shooter fired multiple gunshots at police officers from an apartment complex, after law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired in the 600 Block of Berry Lane at approximately 7:30 pm.

The shooter, who remains unidentified, was situated on the balcony of the Drake Terrace apartments and opened fire on the officers as they arrived at the scene. According to Indiana State Police Sergeant Brian Walker, the suspect was armed with a rifle, but further details regarding the weapons used are unknown at this time. The shooter's motive is also currently unclear.

Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries to civilians or law enforcement personnel. However, multiple shots have been exchanged between the suspect and officers, leading to a situation that now involves officers from multiple jurisdictions and SWAT teams. As a result, a heavy police presence has been established outside the apartment complex, and authorities have safely evacuated civilians from the rest of the building.

It is worth noting that Kendallville is located approximately 30 miles north of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
