Game of Thrones Prequel Series 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight' Announced by HBO

HBO has announced the development of a new Game of Thrones prequel series, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The series will be based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas and will stream on the HBO Max and Discovery+ combined streaming service known as Max.

The plotline of the prequel follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, a young and courageous knight, and his squire, Egg, as they wander through Westeros a century before the events of Game of Thrones. Set during the time when the Targaryen line held the Iron Throne and dragons still roamed the world, the duo faces great challenges and dangerous foes.

George R.R. Martin will serve as the writer and executive producer of the show, alongside Ira Parker, who previously worked as a co-executive producer on the first season of House of the Dragon. The Dunk and Egg novellas include The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010).

HBO has developed numerous projects set in the world created by Martin after the success of Game of Thrones, but only House of the Dragon has made it to production. The first season of House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022 and was renewed for a second season within a week of its launch.
